FRENCH DRAIN DETAIL

 A french drain is a trench filled with gravel used to collect    

 and conduct surface runoff and intercept sub-surface water.

  A french drain may be used in conjunction with a sub-surface

 collector pipe as illustrated.                                                  

The sub-surface collector pipe is usually installed 6" or more

below the bottom of the foundation of the house. This varies.
